TDR rocks the Bullring 10-31-09

Team DeJong made our first appearance this new season at King of the Bullring at McElroy in Waterloo, IA. Needless to say we picked up where we left off last year... Victorious!!!

Joel ran clone medium and heavy. He won 3 of the 4 heat races, finishing 2nd in the last heat race due to having to go to the tail for rough driving. These finsihes secured him a pole position in both classes racing against 20 other karts. Joel won clone heavy holding on after many lap traffic passes and several yellow restarts. In clone light he led every lap and after taking the white flag, getting ready to cross the checkered he had to spin to avoid a pileup at the start finish, sliding across the start finish to win, but flagman decided to do a green white checkered. Joel had a bent wheel with air going down and had to leave the track, thus giving up what should have been another team win.

Michael did extremely well in Kid Kart unrestricted and dominated the field with a feature win.

Little brother Maguire, age 4, made his first appearance on a the indoor arena and finished a 2nd place in the restricted Kid Kart class. We were very proud of his first indoor race.

Caymen made his first appearance in Junior 1. He did extremely well and ran with the pack with exception to Drew Janssen who dominated the field lapping all particpants. Caymen shocked us with holding his own line and consistantly tracked out all the way to the wall each lap. He utterly shocked us for a 7year old.

Cayden Carter joined us as a Team DeJong driver in Junior 2 class. Cayden dropped the hammer Saturday and ended the day with a feature win in heavies and a 2nd place finish in Junior 2 lite.

We are definately looking forward to the next syrup race!
